Sui Dhaaga Movie Review: Tailor-Made For The Masses

Image
PC: IBTimes India "Sab badiya hai" Cast: Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan, Raghubir Yadav, Namit Das Directed By: Sharat Katariya Genre: Drama I do not remember a film where there was no evident line of division between the 'supporting' cast and the lead. Sui Dhaaga is simple, heartwarming, and to the point. The film is a kind that holds you by your hand and takes you with it. The natural transition of moving from failure to success in Mauji and Mamta's personal and professional life was written and performed brilliantly. The only thing that irked me was Anushka's inability to shed a few tears on the many occasions that she 'breaks down'. The cast and crew of Sui Dhaaga have managed to put the thread through the needle's eye in the first attempt! This one should not be missed.

Batti Gul Meter Chalu Movie Review: Batti Gul Kuch Bhi Chalu 👀

Image
PC: India Today "Vikas (progress) aur Kalyan (welfare) ko milne mein abhi waqt hai" Cast: Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Divyendu Sharma, Yami Gautam Director: Shree Narayan Singh Genre: Drama Vikas and Kalyan are two travelers using whom this story of "progress" and "welfare" is narrated. Batti Gul Meter Chalu sheds light on the electricity scam situation in Uttarakhand(UK). Shahid Kapoor plays a lawyer who fights hard to get justice for his best friend while I fought harder to focus on the first half of the film.  Because the film was based in Uttarakhand, the accent was rubbed in our faces. I can safely say everyone overacted. The only bearable performance was given by Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam.  Nothing quite worked for me except, maybe, the court scenes. The banter between Shahid Kapoor and Yami Gautam is enjoyable, probably because the film was a drag up until now! 😐 You can skip this one.  Did you...

Stree Movie Review: "O Stree, Roz Aana"

Image
Don't refrain from watching Stree; the trailer downplayed the film completely.  Cast: Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi Director: Amar Kaushik Genre: Comedy, Horror The film stars my current favorite  jodi -   Rajkummar Rao and Pankaj Tripathi, who has starred in a handful of films and have never disappointed. Despite the unappealing trailer, I went to the theatre, just for them. I see big things for Apartshakti Khurrana, who, by the way, delivers one whistle-worthy dialogue after another. Stree is enjoyable to the T and leaves you with something to think about! Though the combination of events the film was adapted from is bizarre, the movie makes complete sense. It revolves around the subject of equality in society, but in a totally entertaining, non-preachy manner.   When there's a good amount of laughs, spooks,  dialogue  baazi  and songs laid in front of you, what's not to like? Bollywood,...
